FERN & ROBY
The Fern & Roby room was sporting not only fetching and organically designed products, it’s trademark, but the sound was also organic, natural and very engaging, in that wonderful analog way.
Christopher spoke to Fern & Roby’s latest component—the Amp NO 2 Integrated ($8,500). Its brethren consisted of Fern & Roby’s:
Montrose Heirloom Turntable w/Schö CB Tonearm ($14,950)
The Raven III Loudspeakers ($8,500/pr)
Equipment Rack (Ash) 48” x 22” ($6,500)
Other components were the ModWright PH9 0X Phono Pre ($4,750), Sculpture A: A:3P Ebony ($4,535), the Weiss DAC501 DAC ($9,645), Roon Nucleus Plus ($2,959), and a host of Black Cat Cables (Graceline LII XLR (1m) ($2,495), Graceline LII Speaker (3m) ($3,595), Silverstar Power Cables ($875/each)
Christopher was kind enough to play two track for me—”Chairman Mao” from Charlie Haden, John Taylor’s Nightfall album and “Simple Things” from Kandance Springs’ Indigo Album. The two served as reference pieces to somewhat gauge the sound, as shows can be difficult for determining overall fidelity. And as mentioned above, they were played beautifully and were very much engaging.
We, of course, look forward to reviewing the Fern & Roby Amp NO. 2 Integrated.
