AVM
I had called an elevator to the floor where my hotel room stood and entered it, on route, inevitably, to AXPONA. A woman entered, a couple of floors below and we exchanged kind greetings and soon disembarked.
As we made our way from the elevator to the Hotel’s main foyer, she discovered from our brief chat, that I was, in fact, covering AXPONA and I discovered that her husband was Udo Besser—the Managing Director and Owner of AVM. Udo, interestingly, was at the top of my list of folks to visit that day. There are no accidents.
As Ms. Besser and I exchanged goodbyes, she said that she would inform Udo that I would be calling on him, which I did.
I met Udo in the AVM room. We exchanged greetings, the fact that I had met his wife, which had by then, surely, circulated to Udo. I sat for a brief listen, as my schedule was very daunting. Yes, I’ll bring more AKRMedia staff next time.
The AVM system was composed of the ROTATION R 5.3 MK2 turntable, the EVOLUTION CS 5.3 · CS 3.3 streaming CD, receiver, the EVOLUTION MP 5.3 Media Player w/CD Drive, the OVATION SA/MA 5.3 stereo/monoblock amplifier, and the AVM AUDITION CB 2.3 monitor speakers.
Suffice to say, that it was a compact and quite handsome system from stem—turntable, streamer, CD player—to stern—amplifier, speakers, that would easily grace any home’s environment. And given the pricing, more households than not would have the wherewithal to acquire an AVM system.
The Sound: My notes read, “The AVM system has great dynamics, a deep and transparent soundstage, very articulate voicing top to bottom, and it is musical, quite musical. The small AVM CB2.3 monitors are performing, given their size, beyond expectation. Must inquire for review!”
