FIDELITY IMPORTS
There were several rooms being hosted by Fidelity Imports though due to a rather pressing schedule I was only able to listen in on one—Diptyque/Audia Flight—and snap pictures of two other rooms—Unison Research/Opera, Gold Note/Perlisten. And a quick thanks to Michael and Aaron for their help and answers to my questions, while I visited Fidelity Imports.
Firstly, the Diptyque room at the Montréal Audiofest, which sported the Diptyque DP 140s expressed low-bass notes like no electrostatic loudspeaker has ever had the right or ability to do! Needless to say, I was taken aback by this ability which went hand-in-hand with what electrostatics do with ease—transparency, resolution, detail retrieval, midrange magic, speed, and musicality.
The notes on the AXPONA Diptyque/Audia Flight room which sported the Diptyque Reference speakers as allied to the Audia Flight amplification suite—STRUMENTO n° 1 preamplfier and the STRUMENTO n° 8 monoblock amplifiers—the Aurender A200, and the Michell Orbe SE turntable was ‘Next Level’ compared to its DP 140 sibling with regard to low-frequency reproduction. I believe, “Yikes!” in the best possible way, described the Diptyque Reference’s ability to plumb to the depths of the Holy-Bass-Head-Grail! Do wonders never cease? And yet, like electrostatic transducers it too brought transparency, resolution, detail retrieval, midrange magic, speed, and musicality and in a manner well above its sibling. And the systems presentation was very natural and very musical. Bravo!
