GRIMM AUDIO
It was a pleasure to meet Eelco Grimm the brilliant designer behind the Grimm MU1 music player, the Grimm LS1v2 loudspeakers, and the coming Grimm Music Player/DAC to be unveiled in Munich. It was also a pleasure to see John Paul Lizar again. Good folks!
The Grimm Audio system was simple in that it encompassed the aforementioned Grimm MU1 music player and the Grimm LS1v2 loudspeakers. The Grimm MU1 I know well as it sits upon my BDI Wheat Elements console delivering the most delicious bits and bytes and streams that one could imagine and it is beautifully relentless. That is very few streamers can keep up!
“Music” is the very first word in my notebook with regard to the Grimm Audio room, which is to say that the ‘system’ disappeared and ‘music was all that was left. I had not experienced the Grimm LS1v2 loudspeakers which proved to be the kindred, symbiotic mate to the Grimm MU1 and together the music they made was beautiful and beguiling. Beguiling in that it keep you enthralled, attentive, and scarcely able to take notes. Another word that found itself replicated throughout my writeup was “natural.”
While some systems can literally overpower a room, the Grimm Audio system ‘melded’ with its room, producing tight, articulate bass energy (no one-note-bass-here), a textured, palpable center image, a wealth of detail, and lovely tone and timbre, that together and once again said “music” and “natural.” I very much look forward to reviewing the Grimm LS1v2 loudspeakers. with my Grimm MU1 music player. I would venture to say that apartment dwellers and those with bite-sized and larger condo’s should seriously consider this Grimm Audio duo.
