FERN & ROBY
FERN & ROBY | WEISS | BLACK CAT
There were a number of minimalist systems—sporting very few working ‘parts’—that were doing a truly wonderful job in playing back the music. Christoper Hildebrand’s beautifully designed Fern & Roby components—Montrose Heirloom TT, Amp No. 2 Integrated (25-watts), Raven III speakers (94dB, 8-Ohms), the Fern & Roby equipment rack—and the Weiss Helios DAC was, decidedly, one of those most musical and most inviting systems.
The operative term that comes to mind is, well, ‘natural’, as if naturally situated at an outdoor concert, listening attentively to a superb performance, given by exceptionally talented musicians. Yes, that just about sums up what this exceptionally musical, open, and detail system imparted to me as I took in the music and, of course, the gorgeous aesthetic of each Fern & Roby component, equipment rack included.
It was a system that definitely caught my attention as visions of product reviews of the various Fern & Roby components filled quiet thoughts of respective magazine issues and which product might be included therein. The Fern & Roby system was, no doubt, another of the systems, though of few components, that really brought the music and in a most natural and inviting way. Bravo!
