FIDELITY IMPORTS | SOUL NOTE
It was good to see Steve Jain of Fidelity Imports. Suffice to say, that Fidelity Imports was putting on quite the show and while I am very remiss that I was not able to spend time across all of their rooms—seven—given my time constraints, I’d certainly love to get to know more of their distributed products.
I have become quite familiar with the Diptyque speakers , across several shows, which are, singularly, one of the most impressive speakers that I have heard in a long time. The Diptyque 115 speakers at $11,999/pair were playing with Audia Flight’s FLS10 at $16,999 complete with both DAC and phono boards. The sound was wonderfully enticing. I hope to spend time with this combo again. Did I mention how beautiful the Diptyque 115 speakers are? If you’re in to aesthetics and exceptional musicality, this may be your speaker.
I was, however, given my schedule, able to spend time in the Soul Note, Opera room by Fidelity Imports and this was one of those immediately engaging rooms. Also it was simply done, and yet powerfully musical, analog-like in good fashion, impressive, and magnetic—I did not want to leave.
It was, of course, a pleasure to meet Mr. Kato Kideki of Soul Note to whom I mentioned that I was definitely interested in reviewing various Soul Note products.
In terms of the music played, it was my tried and true “Take Five” (Time Out, Columbia) that took center stage when played back via the Soul Note, Opera system and again there was that analog-like rendering that dropped one’s shoulders, whilst providing superb transparency, clarity, atmosphere, all the while being eminently detailed. I’d definitely like some more of that!
