THE AUDIO COMPANY: ACORA & VAC

The Acora-VAC room was impressive on three counts—sound, the layout, and the system’s pricing, which drew quite near to an $850k price tag. Interestingly, the Acora Acoustics VRC-1 Loudspeaker went unconnected for my visit.

That said, as I entered the room, it was as if the Acora Acoustic VRC-1 Loudspeakers were connected and singing. I would soon discover, however, that it was the Acora Acoustic MRB, quite beautiful, that was singing into the very big room. To say that it was impressive, would be an understatement. This little speaker was putting on a very impressive show.

The good folks at Acora Acoustics not only played my test streams, but they remembered them, from two year ago(!) and had them cued up and ready to play! How impressive is that?

My notes reflect the sound via the little MRB’s as “alive and energetic, transparent, detailed, though smooth, as only tubes can truly do”. Joe Morello’s drum kit on “Take Five”(Time Out, Columbia) was alive, in a sea of air, as any musician would be in real life, and resplendent. Yes, there was that in-room palpability, that brought a smile to my face. It was one of the best renditions of “Take Five” that I have heard. And Delfeayo Marsalis’ “The Secret Love Affair” (The Last Southern Gentleman, Troubadour Jazz) was “hitting on all six” as folks used to say or as they say today, “the system was killing it!”

Indeed, the Acora Acoustic MRB loudspeaker was as a bass giant in a little, bitty package, pulling off a rather miraculous feat and in a massive room!

This was, of course, another truly excellent room and a runner-up for Best Sound of Show. Bravo gentlemen!
