AIR-TIGHT BERGMAN
The Air-Tight, Bergmann components, in and of themselves, represented a fine and quite exceptional aesthetic. The garish green YG Acoustic speakers, well, not so much. Had they been white or black or even grey, the overall aesthetic would have been top notch.
Nonetheless, the music from the combo, as spun from the Bergmann turntable, the Air-Tight components, and the YG Speakers was exceptional and rather beguiling. I sat for a long while just taking in the music as the various albums spun round.
The Air-Tight components were anchored by the Air-Tight ATC-7 Statement Stereo Preamplifier and the Air-Tight ATM-3211 Reference Mono Power Amplifier and the Air-Tight Tight ATE-3011 Reference Phono Equalizer. The Bergmann turntable was the Galder & Odin Signature, which sat beautifully atop the rack. And it was the YG Acoustics Hailey 3 Reference Speakers that spoke to the audience.
Once the needle dropped on the album the rhythm and flow, the blatt of the horns was, truly, immersive. The music was alive and energetic, with a texture that brought Mile’s trumpet to life on “Freddy Freeloader” from the Kind of Blue album. And the treble-high cymbals were clean, well resolved, with air aplenty about the musicians and the soundstage.
It was also very nice to see Air-Tight’s Managing Director Jack Miura, who thanked me for coming by the room. It was my pleasure.
