ALMA BOENICKE
To simply walk in and see the system one would believe that there was nothing here to be heard or seen. And then when the music begins you quickly realize how much there actually is here to be both seen and heard and it is Impressive.
These little, no these tiny Boenicke W5 speakers were putting on a room-filling, soundstaging extravaganza, that provided one of the most natural, musical, and spatially astute performance for a speaker of its size, that I can remember. It was astonishing truly, as I sat fascinated and, nearly, with mouth agape.
Partnered with the Java Hi-Fi Single Shot integrated and the Innuos Pulse Mini streamer to speak of an analog-like ease, clarity, naturalness, and nuance would all fit rather neatly into what I experienced in the Alma Music & Audio room at Capitol Audio Fest.
The Boenicke W5 was a speaker punching far above its diminutive size and this room of modestly priced gear was more than ready to take on all comers at anywhere close to its collective price range ($17,745!) and, dare I say, far above.
I can think of numerous friends in small apartments, condos, or rooms that have been relegated to them for their ‘audio hobby’, by significant others, being very, very happy with this exceptional system.
